🧭 The hut at a glance
The Refugio Vega de Urriellu lies at around 1,960 m in the central massif of the Picos de Europa, directly at the foot of the legendary Naranjo de Bulnes (Picu Urriellu) in the Cabrales region of Asturias. The hut is owned by the government of Asturias and run by the FEMPA (Federación de Deportes de Montaña, Escalada y Senderismo del Principado de Asturias). The first building of 1954 was extended in 1979 and replaced in 1989/90 by today’s structure, which has preserved the old façade.

- 96 places on continuous sleeping platforms, spread across 4 rooms of 24 places each
- Duvets, pillows and blankets provided
- Staffed from 15 March to 15 December
- Outside the season: an emergency room with 6–12 places (mattresses, blankets) is freely accessible
- Open all year round
- Booking recommended, especially in high season
