🧭 The hut at a glance
The Dammahütte lies at 2,439 m at the foot of the Damma chain, high above the Göscheneralp reservoir in the canton of Uri. It is considered the smallest staffed SAC hut in Switzerland and is a listed heritage building. Presented at the 1914 national exhibition in Bern, transported to the Göscheneralp valley in 1915 and inaugurated by the SAC Pilatus section in 1916, the hut was gently refurbished in 2026 – and kept its rustic character in the process.
🛏️ Beds
- 18 overnight places in a single shared dormitory under the roof
- Pillow and duvet provided, sleeping bag liner compulsory (available to buy on site for CHF 25)
- No showers for guests, but basic washing facilities
- A bunk alcove for a little more privacy; no separate guides’ room
- Dogs not permitted for reasons of space
- Staffed from July to September
- Booking required through the official hut reservation system
🍽️ Services
- Food from early until late: breakfast, a small lunch menu and a hot dinner between 6.00 and 6.30 p.m.
- Home-made bread, jam and cake from the hut bakery
- Allergies, intolerances and vegetarian catering can be accommodated
- Packed lunches to order in advance (CHF 12)
- Trail tea included for half-board guests
- Solar power for charging a phone, camera or head torch
- Drinking water treated from rainwater and snowmelt (please use sparingly)
