Capanna Cristallina CAS, 2577 m

🧭 The hut at a glance

The Capanna Cristallina stands at 2,575 m directly on the Cristallina Pass, the busy crossing between the Val Bavona and the Bedretto valley in the northern Ticino Alps, not far from the Pizzo Cristallina. The original hut, built in 1939, stood lower down in the Val Torta and was almost completely destroyed by an avalanche in 1999. In 2002 the long, low new building was erected on today’s avalanche-safe site – the first modern mountain shelter realised by the SAC. The hut belongs to the SAC Ticino section.
