🧭 The hut at a glance

The Corno Gries hut (Capanna Corno Gries) stands at 2,338 m in the Val Corno, in the upper Bedretto valley in Ticino, some 3 km above All’Acqua on the Nufenen Pass road. Originally built in 1917 as military accommodation, the hut is striking today for its bold modern architecture – locals call it the «control tower of the Alps». It belongs to the SAC Rossberg section.

  • 46–50 beds in 8–9 rooms of varying size
  • Winter room with 9 places, a stove and kitchen utensils, accessible when the hut team is away
  • Staffed in March and April and continuously from June to early October
  • Good mobile phone reception

  • Bike-friendly: special offers and services for cyclists, e-bike charging available for a fee
