🧭 The hut at a glance

The Cabane d’Orny (Orny hut) lies at 2,826 m in the Lower Valais, above Champex-Lac and not far from Orsières and Martigny. The spacious triangular hut belongs to the Diablerets section (Lausanne) of the Swiss Alpine Club. First built in 1893, rebuilt in 1975 and extended in 1985 with a training centre, it sits on a rocky plinth between two small lakes, right on the edge of the Orny glacier.

  • 83 beds in the hut
  • 20 additional places in the winter room, which is open all year round
  • Approach in around 2.5 hours from the La Breya top station (Champex-Lac chairlift)
  • Alternative approach via Praz-de-Fort and the Saleina entrance
  • Open all year, staffed from June to October
  • Booking through the Diablerets section recommended
