🧭 The hut at a glance

The Britanniahütte sits at 3,030 m on a col between Klein Allalin and Hinter Allalin, above Saas-Fee in Valais. The hut belongs to the SAC Geneva section and was built in 1912 as a timber structure with 34 places – funded by an association of British SAC members, which gave the hut its name. In 1929 a stone building with 84 places replaced the original, an extension followed in 1951 and a complete renovation focused on environmental performance in 1996/97. In 2022 the hut was optimised once more in terms of energy use.
