🧭 The hut at a glance
The Berghaus Diavolezza stands at 2,978 m in the heart of the Bernina group, south-east of Pontresina in the canton of Graubünden – in what is known as the «ballroom of the Alps». From the terrace you look out over the entire glaciated chain from the Piz Palü and the Piz Bernina to the Piz Morteratsch. Unlike classic SAC huts, the Berghaus is owned by the mountain railway company, built directly onto the cable car top station and staffed whenever the cable car is running.

- Around 170 beds in various categories: group rooms, twin and four-bed rooms as well as double rooms (Classic and Plus)
- Open all year round
- Easy access by cable car from the valley station
- Alternatively on foot from the valley station past the Lej da Diavolezza in approx. 2¾ hours (900 metres of ascent)
- Also reachable from the Marco e Rosa hut via the Fortezza ridge and the Pers glacier (approx. 5 hours)
- Booking recommended, especially in high season

⭐ What makes the Berghaus Diavolezza special
- One of the easiest approaches to a high-alpine base in Switzerland – thanks to the cable car, with no effort at all
- Direct views of the showpiece summits Piz Palü, Piz Bernina (the highest point in the Eastern Alps) and Piz Morteratsch
- Starting point for classic alpine tours such as the Piz Palü (4–5 h) and the Piz Bernina
- Rewarding for non-glacier walkers too: the Munt Pers (3,207 m) and Sass Queder (3,066 m) can be reached without setting foot on ice
- Via ferrata up the Piz Trovat (category B, approx. 1 h from the lodge)
- The highest fireplace in Europe on the Sass Queder, close to the lodge
- A favourite with ambitious alpinists and day visitors alike – and correspondingly lively, especially in winter as part of the ski area
